All Music Is Real Music.

Most people are guilty of saying "That's not REAL music" at one point in their lives. But just because you don't like it, doesn't mean it's not real music.

I've said this a few times in the past because I'm a musical snob. It's something I'm still working on getting over, and I'm still working on exploring more musical territory. But holy crap I'm so tired of reading comments online, or hearing people say that some forms of music are more legitimate than others. You see this a lot on Youtube comment sections for any music from before the decade we're currently in a lot, and especially from the early 90's and back, and the thing I dislike the most about it is that I've mostly heard this not necessarily from music I like (Especially any music that doesn't have a guitar in it, or was made digitally, without the use of any analog equipment or just on a computer), but that it's mostly referring to music from anyone that isn't white.

I've most often heard people say that Hip Hop isn't "Real Music", but if you go back, people also said that about Jazz Music, or Rock N Roll, and maybe even the blues because all of that music historically speaking was created mostly by Black People.

Let's just get one thing clear, if something or someone is making a noise with artistic intent, then they are making music. You don't have to like it, but denying that new forms of music aren't actually music is pretty willfully ignorant, and you need to stop living in the past. If you actually took the time to listen to something outside of your comfort zone maybe you'd stop saying that "music was better back in INSERT YEARS I WAS A TEENAGER".

I'm not trying to make a reasoned argument, I'm just venting at the moment. Maybe one day when I can talk on this issue without letting my frustrations rise I'll get around to being more nuanced.

But in the meantime, get over your musical prejudice and seek out something new instead of living in the past.
