Buckle up, we've got some oddities this week.
Tricky - Fall To Pieces
Trip Hop Pioneer and former Massive Attack Collaborator/Member Tricky is back with a...disappointing 14th Studio Album. I mean, don't get me wrong the music itself was okay. But the songs were all too short and felt more like half-baked ideas to me than full songs. Sketches of what could have been a much better album if more work was put into it.
Marilyn Manson - WE ARE CHAOS
This is the closest thing Manson has made to a Country album. I say this just because he mainly collaborated with Shooter Jennings on it. It's mostly rock (lots of sounds that remind me of Ziggy Stardust era David Bowie), but there is a noticeable Southern Twang to it too. Not really my thing, but it's a novel approach for Manson, and certainly more memorable than most of his newer albums.
Mastodon - Medium Rarities
This is Mastodons 2nd "Rare Songs" Compilation, and the 3rd album in 4 years with this title (Weird Al, and Cattle Decapitation both have compilation albums with the same name). Taking many of the Non-Album singles, Instrumental B-Sides, and a handful of live tracks, and putting it all in one package for fans. But even Non-Fans can appreciate the material on this release too. Covers of Feist, Metallica, and The Flaming Lips, and the song "White Walker" made for Game Of Thrones alone are enough to give this a listen.
